Trades - Apprenticeship in Plumber: Apprenticeship is a trades - apprenticeship in Trades programme taught at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 30 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 4,400 per total for local students.
This program delivers the in-school technical training for BCIT's Plumber apprenticeship, covering installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing fixtures and systems including water, hydronic, and drainage-waste-vent (DWV) systems. Under the current stream, training totals 780 hours across four levels — Levels 1 to 3 at six weeks each and Level 4 at eight weeks — with 5,620 required workplace hours; the harmonized stream, for apprentices starting after April 2019, totals 900 hours across four levels (Levels 1 and 3 at seven weeks, Levels 2 and 4 at eight weeks) with 6,300 workplace hours. Classes run Monday to Friday, 0730-1400, at BCIT's Burnaby campus, with multiple start dates offered through the year. Enrolment requires active registration as an apprentice with SkilledTradesBC. Recommended preparation is high school graduation with English 12, Algebra 11, and Physics 11 or equivalents. On completing all levels, apprentices earn a Certificate of Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification with an interprovincial Red Seal endorsement, and those reaching the highest technical level with a BC Certificate of Qualification may also apply for a BCIT Diploma of Trades Training. The program suits working plumbing apprentices who need structured technical instruction alongside on-the-job training.
