Mathematics and Statistics is a Bachelor of Science program at Brock University's Faculty of Mathematics and Science, designed to be flexible across several areas of concentration. Students can specialize in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, MICA (Mathematics Integrated with Computers and Applications), Pure Mathematics, or Statistics, covering topics such as big data analytics, experimental design, sampling methods and statistical inference. Small upper-year class sizes allow many students to work directly with faculty on research as part of an Honours thesis, with some work resulting in publication in peer-reviewed journals. An Accelerated Mathematics Studies stream is available for exceptional students, allowing completion of the four-year Honours degree, in any concentration, in as little as three years. Minors are also offered in Mathematics, Elementary Teaching Mathematics and Secondary Teaching Mathematics. Graduates pursue careers such as statistician, operations research analyst, quantitative financial market analyst, actuary or insurance underwriter, inventory control specialist, mathematics or statistics teacher or researcher, and data or credit risk analyst.
