Overview
The Master of Arts (MA) in Applied Disability Studies at Brock University is offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences and is the only program of its kind in Ontario. Students specialize in either Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), with a course sequence verified by the Association for Behavior Analysis International toward the Board Certified Behavior Analyst credential, or Leadership, Diversity, Community, and Culture (LDCC), which provides graduate-level training for career advancement in the disability sector. The thesis-based program combines coursework with practicum or internship placements and requires students to complete an original research study and write an MA thesis under faculty supervision. Enrollment is limited to 6-10 new students per year across both specializations. The program runs for six terms (two years) of full-time study based at the St. Catharines campus, with some courses offered on weekends or online. It begins in the September intake and is geared toward students pursuing research careers or further doctoral study.

Admission Requirements: Applicants need a four-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution in a related field, with a minimum average of 75% in the last two years of study, one or more undergraduate statistics courses at a minimum 75% average, and coursework related to disability studies and/or behaviour analysis at a minimum 75% average; volunteer, work or research experience in the disability sector or ABA is preferred. Applicants required to provide proof of English language proficiency must meet the standard graduate minimum requirements (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0, or an approved equivalent). Applications require transcripts from all previous post-secondary study, three references (academic preferred), a curriculum vitae, and a statement of intent of no more than two pages identifying research interests and a preferred thesis supervisor.
