Brock University's Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, offered through the Faculty of Social Sciences, examines social institutions, relationships, and the conditions shaping individual and collective experience through critical analysis of everyday assumptions. Students can pursue Sociology as a single major or combine it with another discipline across three degree streams, and the honours program offers optional concentrations in Applied Social Research and Data Analysis, Critical Animal Studies, or Criminology. The Applied Social Research and Data Analysis concentration builds quantitative and qualitative research-design skills; Critical Animal Studies examines the treatment of animals in society; and Criminology analyzes the criminal justice system and inequality in law, corrections, and punishment. Minors are also available in Black Studies, Critical Animal Studies, or Sociology. Graduates pursue careers in policy and data analysis, research, human rights and labour advocacy, non-profit management, corrections, and teaching. The degree is a four-year program based at Brock's Niagara Region campus in St. Catharines, Ontario.
