Overview

This degree builds knowledge, skills, and attitudes through a combination of practical experience and coursework spanning science and the humanities, with work-term placements that connect academic learning to real-world nursing practice. The first 2.5 years take place at Camosun, covering five academic semesters and two spring practicum terms, before students move to the University of Victoria for a final 1.5 years comprising two semesters and consolidated practice experiences.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Competitive entry, and meeting the minimum does not secure a seat. Requirements apply to every applicant. Grade 12 graduation or its equivalent, plus these subjects at 73% (or the listed Camosun alternative at B, or an approved university-transfer course at B): Math 11 or 12 (Foundations of Math 11 or 12, or Pre-calculus 11 or 12; UT alternatives include MATH 100, 101, 107, 108, 109, 115, STAT 116, 123, 216 or 218); Biology 11 or Life Sciences 11 (UT: BIOL 102, 103, 104, 124 or 126); Chemistry 11 (Camosun CHEM 070 at B; UT: CHEM 100 or higher); an approved Social Studies 11 or 12 (UT: any transferable social studies course); English Studies 12, English 12 or English 12 First Peoples (UT: ENGL 103 with ENGL 104, or 151, 161, 163 or 164); an approved Academic 12 course (Camosun MATH 097, CHEM 090 or PHYS 090 at B); and Anatomy and Physiology 12 or Biology 12 (Camosun BIOL 090 at B; UT: BIOL 103, 126, 150 or 151). Applicants must also meet Camosun's English language proficiency requirement and complete the Requisite Skills and Abilities acknowledgement form for the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Ranking for the competitive draw uses four courses only: English 12, Anatomy and Physiology 12, one Academic 12 course, and Life Sciences 11 or Biology 11 (or their alternatives). B.C./Yukon grade 12 students may apply in their graduating year and are assessed provisionally on interim grades; after the 31 January document deadline, in-progress coursework no longer counts, except for current B.C./Yukon secondary students. Anyone not in good standing at Camosun, at UVic, or in a health programme elsewhere is ineligible. A short waitlist runs within the same intake year only. Camosun sets aside priority seats for qualified Indigenous applicants in its Health Sciences and Human Services programmes for part of each year, under a process approved by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS must clear Camosun's general college English standard on top of anything listed here — IELTS Academic 6.0 with no sub-score under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 78 with no sub-score under 19, PTE Academic 54 with no sub-score under 50, Cambridge C1 Advanced 174 with no sub-score under 169, or CAEL CE 60 with no component under 60, taken within the past two years — because the college states that its general standard applies even where a programme page shows a lower one.

Application Details

Start Date: One start a year, in September (Fall term). The first two and a half years run at Camosun's Interurban campus, the final year and a half at the University of Victoria.
Application Deadline: Competitive-entry programme with its own fixed dates, not the college-wide schedule. For the Fall 2027 intake the application period runs 1 October 2026 to 15 January 2027 and the document submission period 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027; transcripts arriving before or after that submission window are not looked at. Camosun's competitive-entry table gives the same recurring pattern of 1 October to 15 January with documents by 31 January. B.C./Yukon grade 12 students may apply in their graduating year and are ranked provisionally on interim grades. After the 31 January document date no in-progress coursework counts toward the requirements, except for current B.C./Yukon secondary students. Applicants are ranked, a short waitlist is held for the same year only, and anyone who misses a seat must reapply and resubmit documents. These are the dates Camosun publishes for the programme; they are not split by applicant type, so international applicants should confirm with International Admissions before relying on the general international deadlines. Domestic and international applicants both apply online through EducationPlannerBC (apply.educationplannerbc.ca/camosun).
