Dental Hygiene Diploma at Camosun College in Victoria, Canada is a diploma in Health Sciences programme. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 66,329 per total (CAD 19,400 per total for local students).
The diploma builds the knowledge, skills and values needed to provide safe, competent primary oral health care, emphasising a wellness model of care and evidence-informed practice while learning to deliver dental hygiene care that is comprehensive and attentive to culture, reaching individuals, families and communities. Students build the ability to communicate and work with clients and interdisciplinary teams, applying theory through hands-on practice and international field schools. Graduates find work in clinical practice, community health care or independent practice, and are eligible to pursue degree completion at various post-secondary institutions.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry is into second year: applicants must already have the first-year courses, each at C+ or better, taken at Camosun or as an equivalent elsewhere. Human anatomy and physiology, one pair of BIOL 143 and 144, BIOL 150 and 151, or BIOL 152 and 153; two chemistry courses from CHEM 110, 112, 120 and 121; two English courses from ENGL 151, 161, 163, 164 and 251 (151 and 251 are marked as strongly recommended); two psychology courses from PSYC 110, 120, 130, 154, 160, 164 and 171 (110 and 154 strongly recommended); one statistics course from STAT 116, 216, 218 or BUS 230; and one university-transferable elective at the 100 level or above. Camosun sets aside priority seats for qualified Indigenous applicants in its Health Sciences and Human Services programmes for part of each year, under a process approved by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS must clear Camosun's general college English standard on top of anything listed here — IELTS Academic 6.0 with no sub-score under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 78 with no sub-score under 19, PTE Academic 54 with no sub-score under 50, Cambridge C1 Advanced 174 with no sub-score under 169, or CAEL CE 60 with no component under 60, taken within the past two years — because the college states that its general standard applies even where a programme page shows a lower one.
Application Details
Start Date:One start a year, in September (Fall term). Limited (seated) enrolment: the cohort is capped and a waitlist is normally opened once qualified applicants outnumber seats.
Application Deadline:Limited-enrolment (seated) programme: Camosun publishes an opening date but no closing date, and applications can be shut at any point once the waitlist outgrows the seats on offer. DOMESTIC APPLICANTS: the Fall 2027 (September) application window opens 1 October 2026. Offers are issued first-qualified, first-served — for September-start seated programmes they begin going out in February — so apply as early as you can and check Camosun's Program Availability page for the live status before you apply. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS have a separate deadline of 1 June for the September (Fall) start. It holds only while seats remain, so a popular intake can close sooner; a later application may still be looked at if seats are open and there is time to obtain a study permit. Seats in a capped programme often go before that date, so contact International Admissions to confirm one is free. Domestic and international applicants both apply online through EducationPlannerBC (apply.educationplannerbc.ca/camosun).
