Health Care Assistant Certificate - Indigenous is a certificate in Health Sciences programme taught at Camosun College in Victoria, Canada. The programme runs for 29 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 4,300 per total for local students.
The certificate follows the provincial Health Care Assistant curriculum with an added focus on Indigenous community and culture, building the knowledge, skills and attitudes Indigenous students need to work as front-line caregivers and respected members of a healthcare team in community or facility settings. Under the direction of a health professional, students provide person-centered care supporting clients' and residents' social, cognitive, emotional and physical well-being, with full-time clinical placements that may include day and evening shifts outside regular class hours.
