Overview

Camosun College's AutoCAD Graphics Certificate teaches the AutoCAD computer-aided design software used across engineering, architecture, interior design, and related fields. The certificate is built from four required courses: AutoCAD Level 1, AutoCAD Level 2, AutoCAD 3D Drawing and Modeling, and a final AutoCAD Completion Project, taught through evening and weekend classes at the college's Interurban campus. Students build progressively through the four courses, moving from the introductory AutoCAD levels into 3D Drawing and Modeling before applying what they've learned in the capstone Completion Project. To earn the certificate, students must attend at least seventy-five percent of classes, complete all assigned coursework, and finish the completion project. This certificate suits people who already work in, or want to move into, trades and professions that rely on computer-aided drafting, among them interior design, pattern drafting, facility planning, surveying, carpentry, architecture, and engineering. Its evening and weekend scheduling makes it accessible to those balancing the certificate with existing employment, giving them a focused route to a recognized CAD credential.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Camosun's own Admission Requirements note for the Certificate in AutoCAD Graphics is minimal: students are formally registered into the program only when they register for the final AutoCAD Completion Project course, TTCD 545V, and individual AutoCAD courses can be taken on a stand-alone basis beforehand without applying to the program itself. The college's Completion Requirements set the real academic gate: to register for TTCD 545V, and so receive the certificate, a student must have successfully completed AutoCAD Level 1 (TTCD 512V), Level 2 (TTCD 542V), and AutoCAD 3D (TTCD 548V) within the preceding two years, or hold the Program Coordinator's permission in place of that record. Across the whole certificate a minimum 75% class attendance and completion of all assignments is required. No English-language test score, minimum grade average, portfolio, interview, or age requirement is published for this evening-and-weekend, Interurban-campus program.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC for Camosun's open-enrolment programmes: for Fall 2027 (September) applications open 1 October 2026 with an early deadline of 15 May 2027 for priority registration and a late deadline of 26 August 2027; Winter 2027 (January) runs 15 September 2026 to 7 January 2027, and Summer 2027 (May) 15 January 2027 to 29 April 2027. Limited-enrolment programmes publish only an opening date and can close once the waitlist exceeds the seats on offer. International applicants must submit a complete application by 1 June (Fall), 1 October (Winter) or 1 February (Summer), though later applications are still reviewed while seats remain, making admission effectively rolling for both groups once the early deadlines pass. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
