Overview
Through the Employment Preparation Certificate you will develop the skills, attitudes, knowledge and practices that prepare you for entry-level employment training. You'll explore interests, values and opportunities then set goals, and develop a learning plan to build essential skills for life, learning and work. Essential skills include the following: reading, document use, writing, numeracy, oral communication, thinking skills (such as: problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning, organization and finding/recalling information), working with others, digital technology use and continuous learning. You will explore lifestyle practices that develop resilience and that support readiness for entry-level work.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This certificate sets no academic prerequisite courses or grades and states no IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL requirement. In place of a grade-based entry, every applicant must take part in an intake conversation with the programme, used to determine their suitability for the certificate and for working in an applied-learning setting at the college; Camosun frames this as a personalised placement discussion rather than a pass/fail screen, and uses it to help decide appropriate course placement within the programme. No portfolio, work-experience, age, immunisation or criminal-record-check condition is stated. The certificate runs full-time over 15 weeks or part-time over 30 weeks, with two intakes a year, September and January.

International applicants must submit a complete application by 1 June (Fall), 1 October (Winter) or 1 February (Summer), though later applications are still reviewed while seats remain, making admission effectively rolling for both groups once the early deadlines pass.
