Overview
The Indigenous Studies (IST) Diploma develops the knowledge and skills to prepare you for your role as a leader in your community. You engage in cultural, academic, and applied learning experiences in applied, land-based, and classroom contexts. Students learn to walk with dignity, taking care of and being responsible to one another, and develop their voice and identities. You have opportunities to strengthen your life skills through learning about self-control, strengthening their identity, self-awareness, self-worth, and relationship building. There are opportunities for reciprocity and generosity between students in varying phases of their learning, and students become mentors to one another.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Indigenous Studies Diploma requires one of: a C+ in English 12, or a C in English 12 Camosun Alternative, with proof of that grade or higher required at application. The programme's own admissions page states no further academic prerequisite, no minimum grade point average, and no dedicated English-language test score (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL); the English 12-equivalent course above is the stated language requirement.
