Overview
Mechanical technology is a cornerstone of sophisticated and advanced economies. You learn the skills to apply scientific and engineering principles to solve mechanical engineering related problems. You undertake the design and fabrication of mechanical apparatus and systems, including automation and control systems, manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing technologies and material handling. Conventional and computerized numerical control (CNC) machining, interpreting engineering drawings, including metrology and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) are a part of your technologist skill set preparing you for the needs of industry today.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Georgian requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent for direct entry to this three-year Advanced Diploma, or mature-student status for applicants without one. The programme's own prerequisites are Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U) and any Grade 12 Mathematics at the College or University level. Mature applicants aged 19 or older without a diploma may qualify through equivalent courses, upgrading, GED completion, or equivalency testing, and applicants with relevant post-secondary coursework or life or learning experience may qualify through Georgian's Credit for Prior Learning process. Georgian recommends, but does not require, that applicants hold a minimum Class G2 Ontario driver's licence to access the widest range of co-op placements. The programme page states no programme-specific language-test score; Georgian's institution-wide English Language Proficiency Requirement for diploma and certificate programmes applies instead — a minimum overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, or Duolingo English Test 110, from Georgian's international admissions page.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: 1 February 2027 is the equal-consideration date for Georgian's highly competitive programs, which now covers Fall 2027, Winter 2028 and Summer 2028 entry, and later applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats last; offers of admission for this 2026-2027 cycle must be accepted by 1 May 2027. Programs outside the highly competitive list carry no equal-consideration date and are assessed on a rolling basis year-round. International applicants apply directly through Georgian's own portal with no published closing date and are assessed on a rolling basis while seats remain, though Georgian warns a program open when applied to may close before assessment. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
