The Master of Arts in Public History is a 2-year, full-time graduate program that combines graduate history courses with courses on the theory and practice of public history, preparing historians to apply historical methodologies outside traditional academic settings. Many courses involve collaborative projects with community partners, and the degree is completed through a Research Essay pathway supported by a major research project. Paid internships are available between the first and second year, subject to availability. A collaborative Specialization in Digital Humanities can be added to the degree. Based in Ottawa, students have access to national museums, archives, historic sites, and monuments, as well as provincial and local historical resources, for research and coursework. The program is delivered in person, with admission in the Fall term.
