Program details
Overview
This Double DEC combines the pre-university Sciences de la nature program with the pre-university Danse program, letting students earn both diplomas over three years at Cégep de Drummondville instead of the usual two years for a single pre-university DEC. The science strand covers mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology and prepares students for university science, health or engineering studies. The dance strand combines technical training in dance with choreography and dance history, geared toward students continuing in university dance programs or professional performance training. Following both curricula at once adds to the workload compared with a standard DEC, and admission requires meeting the entrance requirements of each individual program. Graduates are awarded two separate Diplômes d'études collégiales. The program suits students who want to maintain a serious dance practice while keeping a science-based university path open, rather than having to choose one over the other after high school.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This Double DEC's own page states three admission conditions: meet Cegep de Drummondville's general college admission conditions, present a school record with a grade above 70% in Secondary 5 French, and meet the particular requirements of the two chosen programmes. Sciences de la nature's own page requires Mathematics Technico-sciences or Sciences naturelles from Secondary 5 (or Mathematics 536), Chemistry from Secondary 5 (or Chemistry 534), and Physics from Secondary 5 (or Physics 534). Danse's own page states that, while not a formal admission condition, applicants must take a placement test used for level grouping; both components are non contingente. No language test score beyond the French grade above is published. Intake is in the Fall term.
