Diploma in Sciences de la nature et Musique is a diploma in Natural Sciences programme taught at Cégep de Drummondville in Drummondville, Canada. The programme runs for 3 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition is CAD 3,740 per year for local students.
This Double DEC lets students complete the pre-university Sciences de la nature program and the pre-university Musique program together, earning both diplomas in three years instead of pursuing either alone. The science strand covers mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology and serves as the standard entry route into university science, health and engineering programs. The music strand builds performance technique and music theory through applied lessons and ensemble work, preparing students for conservatory-level study or university music programs. Because the two curricula run side by side rather than one after the other, the course load is heavier than a single pre-university DEC, and applicants must meet the admission requirements of both programs, including whatever secondary-school prerequisites and, for the music side, any audition or placement evaluation the program calls for. Graduates receive two separate Diplômes d'études collégiales. The combination suits students who are not ready to set aside a scientific or a musical direction before university and who can manage carrying both programs of study concurrently at Cégep de Drummondville.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This Double DEC combines Sciences de la nature and Musique. The combined programme page states three conditions: meet Cegep de Drummondville's general college admission conditions, present a school record with a grade above 70% in Secondary 5 French, and meet the particular requirements of the two chosen programmes. Sciences de la nature's own page adds Mathematics Technico-sciences or Sciences naturelles from Secondary 5 (or Mathematics 536), Chemistry from Secondary 5 (or Chemistry 534), and Physics from Secondary 5 (or Physics 534); it is non contingente. Musique's own page selects candidates by audition, with upgrading courses possible if the audition reveals weaknesses; it is also non contingente. No IELTS or TOEFL score is published for either component. Intake is in the Fall term.
