Social Sciences and Languages, Cultures and Worlds is a three-year double Diploma of College Studies (DEC) offered at Cegep de Sainte-Foy, combining a Social Sciences diploma with a Languages, Cultures and Worlds diploma and leading to two separate credentials on completion. Students study subjects such as history, economics, ancient civilizations, psychology, and anthropology in the social sciences component, alongside cultural studies, the history of languages, art history, and linguistics in the languages component, while building English proficiency and a foundation in Mandarin. The dual diploma gives access to university programs in the social sciences as well as languages, linguistics, and international studies. It suits students who want a full social sciences foundation in parallel with advanced English and introductory Mandarin, rather than choosing between the two at the CEGEP stage.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Beyond Cegep de Sainte-Foy's general CEGEP admission conditions, this program requires completion of Secondary V Mathematics CST (or Mathematics 416) for the pathway without advanced mathematics, or Secondary V Mathematics TS or SN for the pathway with mathematics. No French or English language-proficiency test is required for admission; English and Mandarin instruction begins within the program itself. The program is offered in the Fall term only, so applicants should plan to apply for a September start.
