Program details

Overview

Techniques de physiothérapie (144.A1) is a technical Diploma of College Studies (DEC) at Cégep de Sept-Îles that trains physiotherapy technologists over three years. The curriculum builds foundational knowledge in human anatomy and physiology alongside hands-on manual skills, and trains students to apply and evaluate therapeutic treatments, address pain and functional limitations through mobility and strength-based interventions, analyze patient records to design treatment plans, and deliver patient education and health-promotion activities. The program includes 750 hours of patient-based clinical placement, supported by a dedicated school clinic, laboratories, and a mobile polyclinic, and the program collaborates with the college's Nursing program and provides care coverage for college sports teams. Because of the clinical placements, students must meet specific vaccination and background-check requirements. The program suits students interested in healthcare and hands-on problem-solving who have good manual dexterity, teamwork skills, and empathy for patients. Graduates are prepared to work across pediatric, geriatric, orthopedic, and sports-rehabilitation contexts under the supervision structure typical of the technologist role.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Cegep de Sept-Iles admits applicants to Techniques de physiotherapie (Physiotherapy Techniques) on the Diplome d'etudes secondaires (DES), which under the college's general admission conditions requires the language of instruction (French) at Secondary 5, a second language (English) at Secondary 5, mathematics and science at Secondary 4, and history and citizenship education at Secondary 4. The program additionally requires Secondary 5 Physique. No English-language test score is published, as instruction is in French. Because clinical placements are part of the program, some practicum sites require a specific vaccination profile and a criminal record check, and students must sign a confidentiality agreement; incomplete vaccination can bar access to a placement, restrict work with certain patient populations, or lead to removal from a clinical setting during an outbreak.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec) for programmes starting in 2027: the Fall 2027 intake has a first-round deadline of 1 March 2027, with further rounds on 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027 filling remaining seats; the Winter 2027 intake closes its first round on 1 November 2026, then 1 December 2026 and 2 January 2027. International applicants outside France apply through SRACQ from 1 September 2026 and must complete their file by 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, after which no international candidate can be admitted; Winter entry is offered only to French citizens, who may apply until 1 May 2027 for Fall or between 15 May and 15 October 2027 for Winter 2028. Admission is not indefinitely rolling: each round carries a firm cut-off, though later rounds absorb whatever seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
