Program details

Overview

Informatique (420.B0) is a technical Diploma of College Studies (DEC) at Cégep de Sept-Îles, with a DEC-BAC option for university continuation, that provides generalist training across computing disciplines. The three-year program covers network administration and security on Windows and Linux servers, programming for mobile, web, 3D game, and embedded applications, computer hardware installation and repair, and emerging areas such as Internet of Things programming and cybersecurity; students can work toward Cisco CCNA and HP A+ industry certifications alongside the diploma. The program is delivered in an alternance travail-études format with two paid internships built into the schedule. Extracurricular activities connected to the program include student-run LAN parties and an esports team. It suits students who enjoy problem-solving, prefer methodical, logical work, and want broad exposure to several areas of information technology rather than a single specialization, whether their goal is direct entry into an IT role or continuing to university through the DEC-BAC pathway with partner institutions.
