Web Development in an AI Context (AEC) is an Attestation of College Studies delivered in a hybrid, part-time evening format (Tuesday and Thursday) by Cégep de Sherbrooke's Centre de formation continue, over 21 months (405 hours). The program covers the creation, programming, and management of websites and web applications, including interface design, databases, client-side and server-side programming, hosting, security, and project management using an Agile approach. Instruction builds mastery of core web languages — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL — before progressively introducing the professional use of generative-AI coding assistants within the development workflow. The program is aimed at learners seeking practical, project-based web-development skills rather than a purely theoretical computing background. On completion, graduates are prepared for web-developer roles that combine front-end and back-end programming with AI-assisted workflows. The AEC is a workforce-oriented continuing-education credential rather than a diploma of college studies (DEC), and admission is processed through the Centre de formation continue.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or training judged sufficient by the Cégep. A computer-skills test is administered by email to assess each candidate's profile, but the college states that passing this test is not a determining admission criterion. Applicants whose prior studies were not completed in French at the secondary or postsecondary level in Quebec, or at a certified French lycée, must pass a French-language proficiency test. A non-refundable $30 CAD admission and file-analysis fee applies; tuition depends on the applicant's status and was not published as a fixed figure at the time of review.
