Overview
This attestation of college studies (AEC) develops the competencies needed to practise as a specialized educator, working in prevention, adaptation, rehabilitation, and social integration with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors who face social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. The program totals 2,085 hours, delivered part-time and entirely online over approximately three years, with classes on alternating weeks — Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday or Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Field placements required for graduation are completed in person. The evening and weekend schedule allows students to combine study with work or other commitments while training for careers supporting children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in schools, youth centres, group homes, and community organizations. Admission requires a Secondary School Diploma with at least two consecutive sessions of interrupted study, a Diploma of Vocational Studies, or an equivalent.
