Overview
Physiotherapy Technology (Techniques de physiothérapie, program code 144.A1) is a three-year, six-session technical Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) offered by Cégep Garneau in Quebec City. The curriculum covers human anatomy and physiology, functional anatomy of the upper and lower body, biomechanics, clinical pathology, electrotherapy, and rehabilitation techniques for neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, together with professional communication and clinical-approach courses and general education requirements. Students complete 750 hours of practical internships beginning in the second session, training at the college's own clinical school, Physiothérapie Garneau, as well as external sites such as hospitals, retirement homes and private clinics, with a possible international placement in France in the final session. Students can also join a student-run sports first-aid team known as La Brigade des Soigneurs de Garneau. The program suits students interested in helping clients of all ages regain mobility, strength and functional independence, preparing them to work as physiotherapy technologists alongside licensed physiotherapists.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must first meet Cégep Garneau's general collegial admission conditions: under Quebec's Règlement sur le régime des études collégiales, holding a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) from the youth or adult sector, or equivalent training recognized by the college, with conditional admission possible when at most six DES credits remain outstanding, completed in the applicant's first college semester. The Physiothérapie programme additionally requires the applicant to have passed Physics from Secondary 5. No French or English proficiency test score is published; the language requirement is carried by the DES's mandatory French and English secondary sequences. The college expects to admit about 70 students in the fall intake, and applies a selection based on the school record only if eligible applications exceed the places available.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec) for programmes starting in 2027: the Fall 2027 intake has a first-round deadline of 1 March 2027, with further rounds on 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027 filling remaining seats; the Winter 2027 intake closes its first round on 1 November 2026, then 1 December 2026 and 2 January 2027. International applicants outside France apply through SRACQ from 1 September 2026 and must complete their file by 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, after which no international candidate can be admitted; Winter entry is offered only to French citizens, who may apply until 1 May 2027 for Fall or between 15 May and 15 October 2027 for Winter 2028. Admission is not indefinitely rolling: each round carries a firm cut-off, though later rounds absorb whatever seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
