Diploma in Social Sciences

Social Sciences (Sciences humaines) is a pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) offered by Cégep Garneau in Quebec City, with admission in both fall and winter. The program examines human behaviour, societies, cultures and contemporary social issues across eleven disciplines, including administration, anthropology, ancient civilizations, economics, geography, history, mathematics, psychology, religious studies, political science and sociology, drawing on roughly forty available courses ranging from introductory to university-preparatory level. Students choose one of five profiles: Découverte (a broad exploratory option), Administration/économie/gouvernance, Civilisations et histoire, Enjeux et relations internationales, or Dynamiques psychosociales et interculturelles, with some profiles including a mathematics component and others excluding it. The program offers supervised international field placements in Belgium and France, a dedicated interdisciplinary study space, an annual colloquium, and specialized labs for psychology, geography and ancient civilizations. It suits students interested in human and social sciences who plan to continue into one of more than twenty university bachelor's programs, such as psychology, law, communications or economics.
