Trades - Apprenticeship in Brick and Stone Mason

Brick and Stone Mason is an in-school apprenticeship training programme at Sault College for registered masonry apprentices, delivered across three levels of training that complement on-the-job hours with an employer. Level 1 coursework covers tools and equipment, safety codes and equipment, worksite preparation, wall system access, mortar, masonry unit preparation, job layout, and structural and non-structural masonry. Level 2 adds masonry supports and grouting, and Level 3 adds temporary masonry support, fireplace and chimney construction, and restoration masonry, alongside progressively advanced coursework in the Level 1 topics. Training combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical skills in structural and non-structural masonry work.
