Program details

Overview

Soins infirmiers is Collège Lionel-Groulx's technical nursing program, leading to a Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) that prepares graduates to practise as licensed technical nurses following the mandatory licensing exam of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ). The program page describes it as suited to students with an interest in health and human contact, communication and caregiving, who are organized, adaptable, and willing to take on varied clinical tasks; it notes that curiosity about science, particularly biology, and manual dexterity are assets. Before a student's first clinical placement, OIIQ registration (with a mandatory criminal-record declaration) is required, and vaccination is strongly recommended since an incomplete record could limit access to hospital-based placements, which take place across the Laurentides, Laval and Lanaudière regions. Entry requires Secondary 4 Science (STE, SE, or Physical Science 436) and Secondary 5 Chemistry (534); the page notes priority in admission goes to applicants who have already completed Secondary 5 Chemistry, with a longer three-and-a-half or four-year pathway offered to others depending on available seats. There is no admission quota, and students must acquire a personal digital device after admission. The DEC gives access to university programs in nursing sciences, and the program has previously been recognized among La Presse+'s top-rated Quebec college programs.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: See the College's general admission conditions, plus this program's own prerequisites: Science - STE or SE from 4th secondary, or Sciences physiques 436; and Chemistry from 5th secondary, or Chemistry 534 - priority in selection goes to applicants who have already passed 5th-secondary Chemistry/534 or the equivalent, otherwise a longer 3.5- or 4-year pathway may be offered (subject to available seats).

Application Details

Start Date: September and January
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca: the college's own admission page states an equal-consideration date of 1 March for Fall entry and 1 November for Winter entry, which for the 2027 cycle fall on 1 March 2027 (Fall) and 1 November 2026 (Winter), with Winter 2027 applications opening 15 September 2026. Collège Lionel-Groulx does not publish a dedicated international-admissions page of its own; international applicants would follow SRAM's system-wide window, published as 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, though the college has not confirmed this itself. Admission proceeds round by round on a rolling basis after each equal-consideration date until seats are filled. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
