The Timber Scaling Micro-credential is an industry-driven program designed to address a labour shortage in the forestry sector within the East and West Kootenay and the broader BC Interior. The program prepares students with the knowledge and skills required to write the BC Timber Scaling Exam to become skilled timber scalers — professionals responsible for accurately measuring and grading timber to determine volume, quality, and commercial value under Provincial standards.

Admission Requirements: College of the Rockies' Timber Scaling Micro-credential, a new industry-driven program for the BC Interior forestry sector, states a single academic admission requirement on its program page: Grade 10 Math. The page does not list any other academic prerequisite, portfolio, interview or language-test condition; successful completion of the roughly 140-hour program (70 hours online, 70 hours in-person at the Gold Creek campus and local mills) makes graduates eligible to write the BC Timber Scaling Exam. As with all College of the Rockies programs, applicants whose first language is not English, or educated primarily in a language other than English, must meet the college's general English-proficiency requirement — TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS Academic 6.0, CAEL-CE 60 or PTE Academic 56, or an equivalent English-12 course combined with sufficient years of English-medium schooling — per the college's own admission requirements.
