Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Practical Theology with a major in Church Ministry is a four-year, campus-based degree at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, British Columbia, preparing students for ministry and leadership roles within local churches. All degree students complete an internship in their third or fourth year, and Church Ministry majors may choose an intensive ten-month internship placement in a ministry setting during their third year instead of a shorter placement. In their third year, students may also add an optional 15-credit concentration in either Youth Work or Worship Arts, or select a minor of five courses outside the major instead of a concentration. Admission Requirements: The Church Ministry programme page does not publish its own admission requirements and refers applicants to Columbia Bible College's general admissions process, so the requirements below are drawn from the college's own admissions page. Applicants to the Church Ministry bachelor's degree (BA in Practical Theology) must be at least 17 years of age, hold a Canadian or US high school diploma with a minimum 60% average across their top five Grade 11-12 classes (three of which must be academic courses), demonstrate potential for academic and community success, affirm a Christian faith commitment and agree to Columbia's Student Community Commitments, and supply two adult, non-family references who submit a reference form on the applicant's behalf. International applicants must show English proficiency of TOEFL 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based), or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5, tested at least two months before the semester begins. Conditional admission covering an applicant awaiting final transcripts or holding mature-student status (21 or older, out of school at least a year, with an English entrance exam or enrolment in ENGL 105) is considered individually. The college admits for September and January entry.
