The Diploma in Outdoor Leadership is a two-year, on-campus program preparing students to lead others in wilderness and adventure-sport settings. Year one covers the Emergency Rescue Technician certificate curriculum, including wilderness first response, search and rescue, emergency management, first aid, navigation, rope rescue, and avalanche safety. Year two builds on this foundation with rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, and group-management training, alongside integrated courses in spiritual development. Entry into year two requires successful completion of the year-one Emergency Rescue Technician coursework, including Wilderness First Responder, Rope Rescue Technician, Avalanche Safety Training, and ERT Skills Evaluation. Graduates leave with technical outdoor-leadership skills paired with Christian formation, preparing them for roles leading wilderness and adventure-sport programs.
