The Emergency Rescue Technician (ERT) certificate is a one-year program combining Christian formation with technical wilderness and emergency-response training. Students attend Bible college classes and chapel on campus two days a week, and spend the remaining three days in field-based training, including two four-day overnight operations. Training leads to certification in Wilderness First Responder, Wildland Rope Rescue, and Avalanche Safety 1 and 2, alongside instruction in rope rescue, first response, and mountain rescue operations. Graduates earn 25 academic credits and are eligible to transfer into year two of several related diploma and degree programs. The program is based on Canada's west coast, giving students access to mountain, ravine, river, and ocean terrain for hands-on training. Graduates leave with technical and leadership skills preparing them for outdoor and emergency service careers alongside a foundation in Bible and discipleship.
