Overview
This Bachelor of Arts in Judaic Studies, offered through Concordia's Institute for Judaic Studies, immerses students in Jewish history, culture and literature, covering ancient and modern languages, politics, philosophy, law, religious traditions, women's experiences across periods, the Holocaust, and Hebrew language study, alongside field work in Montreal's Jewish community. Students may pursue Honours (60 credits), a Major (42 credits) or a Minor (24 credits). Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus in Montreal and admission in the Fall or Winter term. Class sizes are small, and research and internship opportunities are available through the Institute; funding is available through the Azrieli Institute for study in Israel. Graduates pursue community organizations, humanitarian projects, and graduate studies in religion, culture or rabbinic studies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a DEC. Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a C+ overall average; IB Diploma applicants need 26 points overall; British A-level applicants need at least two A-level exams. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 (February 1 for U.S./international applicants) and Winter applications November 1 (August 1 for U.S./international applicants).
