Overview

This Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, offered through Concordia's Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, covers the fundamentals of mechanics and materials, vibration analysis, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, along with the design, integration, and analysis of mechanical, control, and feedback systems. Full-time study takes a minimum of four years (120 credits), with entry in the Fall or Winter term and classes delivered on the Sir George Williams campus. A cooperative education option lets students complete paid work terms of 12 to 16 weeks with engineering firms on projects such as mechanical design and technical drawing. Students complete capstone projects that have included converting engines to run on alternative fuels and designing simulators and solar heating systems. An integrated path allows up to 16 credits to count toward both the Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering. The program is accredited by Engineers Canada, making graduates eligible to pursue registration as professional engineers, and suits students aiming for a career in mechanical design and analysis.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a DEC with an overall average of 25, 23 in mathematics and 22 in physics, covering Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism plus General Chemistry 1; holders of an eligible technical DEC (241.A0, 244.A0, 280.B0, 280.C0 or 280.D0) may qualify without these prerequisites, though the 23/22 minimums apply if the courses were taken. Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a B- overall average with B in a Grade 12 pre-calculus or calculus course and B in Grade 12 physics; IB Diploma applicants need 27 points overall with 4 HL or 5 SL mathematics and 5 HL or SL physics. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 (February 1 recommended for international applicants) and Winter applications November 1 (August 1 recommended for international applicants).

Application Details

Start Date: September and January
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants, including Quebec CEGEP graduates, apply directly to Concordia: for Fall 2027 entry (September start) the application deadline is 1 March 2027, and for Winter 2027 entry (January start) it is 1 November 2026; not all programs admit in Winter. Concordia sets the same formal deadlines for U.S. and international applicants but strongly recommends applying earlier - by 1 February 2027 for Fall or 1 August 2026 for Winter - to allow time for immigration processing. Late applications are considered if space remains, and Concordia does not publish a separate application-opening date. Graduate programs, including the Executive MBA, set their own per-program deadlines rather than following this university-wide undergraduate date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
