Overview
This Bachelor of Arts in Southern Asia Studies, offered through Concordia's Faculty of Arts and Science at the Sir George Williams campus, is an interdisciplinary program examining the customs, social organization, ideas, historical experiences and present-day conditions of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and their neighbours, covering topics such as colonialism, multiculturalism and economics through coursework drawn from Religion, History, Political Science, Film Studies, Economics and other disciplines. Students choose a Major (42 credits) or a Minor (24 credits) and combine courses across these departments to build a regional, cross-disciplinary grounding in South Asian societies. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), depending on the student's academic background, with admission in the Fall or Winter term.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec CEGEP applicants need a DEC; Canadian high school applicants need a C+ average (ACT/SAT not required); IB applicants need a minimum score of 26; British A-level applicants need at least two A-level exams; university transfer applicants need a C average minimum. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 and Winter applications November 1.
