Overview

The Certificate in Irish Studies explores the Irish experience, including history, culture, literature and the global Irish diaspora, covering topics such as colonisation, the Famine and the twentieth-century civil conflict alongside Irish contributions to the arts. The interdisciplinary curriculum draws on courses in political science, history, design, music, language, literature, theology and geography. The 30-credit certificate is delivered on campus at the Sir George Williams campus and is normally completed in one year of full-time study; it can also be paired with the Irish Studies major or minor within the BA. Graduates typically move into communications, cultural production, human resources, public relations, law, education and civil service roles. Students are admitted for the Fall or Winter term, and the program does not require ACT or SAT scores.

Admission Requirements: Minimum cut-off averages: Quebec CEGEP DEC, high school C+, International Baccalaureate 26, British A-levels at least DD in two exams. ACT/SAT scores are not required.
