Program details

Overview

Broadcasting - Television and Independent Production is a two-year diploma at Conestoga's Kitchener - Doon campus that teaches students to write, perform, shoot and edit content across media formats. Training happens in the college's HD studio with access to current cameras and lighting gear, and the hands-on structure builds a production portfolio over both years. Graduates are prepared for work in film, television and digital media.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature-student status at 19 years of age or older, plus Grade 12 compulsory English at a C (70%) or U (60%) level, or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications (COMM1251). Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English language proficiency; the programme page names no score of its own, so Conestoga's published diploma-level minimum applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with no skill below 20, PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo 110. Canadian applicants with credentials from outside Canada require a course-by-course credential evaluation through an approved provider. Conestoga notes that a sound English background is important for success in this program and is considered during the admission selection process, and that minimum cutoffs apply though specific cutoff scores are not published.
