Overview
Esports and Event Media Production is a two-year Ontario College Diploma taught in person at Conestoga's Waterloo campus for the hybrid-event era. Students learn live broadcasting, video production, streaming and digital event management using current esports technologies and media industry workflows. Training runs through Conestoga's Esports Hub and streaming lab, building the technical and creative skills to deliver events for in-person and online audiences at once.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature-student status, plus Grade 12 compulsory English at C or U, or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications COMM1251. The admissions page states that a sound English background is important for success and is considered during selection, with minimum cut-offs applying, and sets a minimum academic-strength score of 70%, built from required-subject averages plus ten bonus marks per Advanced-level, OAC, U, U/C or post-secondary course. It does not publish its own standardised test-score table, so Conestoga's institution-wide scale applies for non-English-instruction transcripts: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 (no band under 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80 (no skill under 20), PTE Academic 53, CAEL 70 (writing at least 60), or Duolingo English Test 110. Students must be available to shoot and edit live-event projects outside regular class hours, including some weekends, and attendance at hands-on in-class sessions is mandatory.

Start Date:Intake months: January and September. Start dates listed by Conestoga on 6 September 2026, for domestic and international applicants alike: September 2026 and January 2027 at Waterloo. An individual campus intake may already be closed.
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
