Mechanical Technician - CNC is a two-year Ontario College Diploma delivered full-time at the Cambridge - Reuter Drive campus. The program combines theoretical and practical instruction in foundational machining and CNC skills, including CNC program development. Students learn to load programs and set up machine tools, with an emphasis on setting up CNC equipment for creating, editing, and optimizing production, and on understanding the various disciplines involved in this multi-step machining process. The program covers the Level 1 learning outcomes of Ontario's precision machining apprenticeship programs, so graduates may not be required to complete Level 1 in-school apprenticeship training or an exemption exam if they later choose to pursue an apprenticeship in a machining trade. The program is delivered on campus using industry-standard CNC machining equipment.
