Overview
Are you interested in welding robotics, metal fabrication and welding engineering? Would you enjoy hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art facility? This program might be right for you! In this dynamic three-year advanced diploma program, you will gain a balanced education in welding engineering technology, combined with practical work in the metal fabrication, welding, robotics, metallurgical, and non-destructive testing laboratories. As a graduate of this program, you are eligible to apply directly for certification under CSA W178.2 as a Level 1 Welding Inspector. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) conditionally recognizes this program as meeting all the academic requirements for certification in the Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) category. This program also covers all the learning outcomes for Level 1 of the Welder (456A) and Metal Fabricator - Fitter (437A) apprenticeship programs in Ontario. If you decide to pursue an apprenticeship in either trade, you may be exempt from this level of in-school training. The optional co-op stream includes four consecutive four-month co-op work terms. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or applicant age 19 or older with mature-student status. Conestoga asks for Grade 12 compulsory English at C or U level, or equivalent, or its own Preparatory Communications (COMM1251), plus Grade 12 Mathematics at C or U level, or equivalent, or its Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship (MATH1385). Where a specific Grade 12 mathematics course is presented, Conestoga sets named minimum grades: MCT4C at 55% (strongly recommended), MAP4C at 80%, MHF4U or MCV4U at 55%, MDM4U at 70%, or MATH1385 at 55%. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English-language proficiency; the programme page does not itself publish a domestic test-score table, so evidence follows Conestoga's general English-proficiency policy. Basic computer literacy is required.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
