Overview
Intercultural Leadership is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate at Conestoga's Waterloo campus. The program develops intercultural communication and leadership skills for diverse workplaces across sectors including startups, multinational corporations, nonprofits, and co-operatives, and is designed to complement an existing educational background. Through case studies, problem-solving exercises, speakers' forums, group work, and personal reflection, students build competencies in intercultural communication strategies for diverse teams, conflict-resolution techniques, and self-awareness and adaptability. The program prepares graduates for support roles in dynamic, diverse workplaces, including positions such as diversity and inclusion coordinator and roles in human resources, community development, education, and global business, as well as pathways to further study in communications or organizational development. Delivered over two academic terms at the Waterloo campus, the credential is designed to complement a prior diploma or degree rather than serve as a standalone entry-level qualification.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario College diploma, advanced diploma, or degree, or equivalent. Canadian citizens and permanent residents with transcripts from outside Canada require a course-by-course credential evaluation through a provider such as ICAS or WES. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English language proficiency per Conestoga's institution-wide requirements for degree and graduate certificate programs (IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 88, PTE Academic 58, or Duolingo 120).
