Crandall University's Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) offers the same academic instruction as Crandall's TESL certificate but with a more flexible practicum, aimed at students planning to teach English overseas. The program consists of two required courses totalling 6 credit hours - Teaching Language: Methods and Management, offered online each fall semester, and Teaching Language Skills and Systems, offered online each winter semester - plus a 25-hour supervised teaching practicum that may be completed in any approved ESL classroom setting and location, subject to the program director's approval. Admission Requirements: Applicants to Crandall's Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours at the university level (60 credit hours is strongly recommended), including at least 6 credit hours of English. Non-native English speakers must also demonstrate proficiency with a score of 7.0 or higher on the IELTS Academic (with a minimum of 6.5 in each skill area), a score of 95 or higher on the TOEFL iBT (with a minimum of 23 in each area), or completion of at least three years of university study where English was the language of instruction.
