Overview

Public Sector Management is a major within Dalhousie University's Bachelor of Management degree, focused on leadership and administration within government and public institutions. Building on a foundation of core business and management courses, students explore how public organizations are structured and governed, examining how to balance the pursuit of a just and equitable society with the maintenance of order and effective public administration. An optional internship is available in the third year, giving students practical experience in a public-sector workplace, and students may pursue additional certificates alongside the major. The program is based on the Halifax campus and admits students each September. Graduates are prepared for roles in public administration, policy analysis, and management within government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other public-sector bodies.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires completion of secondary school (Grade 12), including Academic English 12 and Academic Math 12, plus three additional academic subjects, with a minimum overall average of 75%. Because admission to many Dalhousie programs is competitive, meeting the minimum average does not guarantee a seat.
