Overview
This thesis-based Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Biomedical Engineering applies engineering principles to the study of biomedical systems and the design of technologies that improve healthcare. Research areas include tissue and drug delivery systems, biomedical devices, tissue properties, physiological systems, human motion analysis, and medical imaging, carried out through the School of Biomedical Engineering on the Halifax campus. The program runs a minimum of two years of full-time study, with part-time study also available, and is delivered in person. Students undertake an original research thesis under faculty supervision alongside graduate coursework. Applicants must meet the Faculty of Graduate Studies' minimum admission requirements together with the School of Biomedical Engineering's program-specific requirements. Graduates are well placed to pursue further study, including medical school, or specialist technical roles and further graduate research in physiology, neuroscience, and medical imaging.
