Diploma in Literature

Literature is a profile within Dawson College's Arts, Literature and Communication Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC), a two-year pre-university program. In addition to the four core English courses required of all Arts, Literature and Communication students, students take up to twelve additional courses in literature and creative writing, engaging with literary works across different eras and cultures while developing writing and analytical skills. Students who complete four journalism courses can earn a journalism minor, and optional minors in Theatre or Music are also available. Admission requires a Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or an academic background judged equivalent to the DES, with no additional course prerequisites stated. Graduates receive a DEC and are prepared for university studies in literature, creative writing, journalism, or related humanities fields. The program is delivered at Dawson College's downtown Montreal campus.
