Diploma in Cinema-Communications

Cinema | Communications is a profile within Dawson College's Arts, Literature and Communication Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC), a two-year pre-university program. Students study contemporary and historical film and media works, developing skills in critical analysis and judgement of film and other media. Alongside academic coursework, students gain production skills in video, animation, journalism, and sound. The program provides access to dedicated computer labs, an animation atelier, a lighting studio, and a sound recording booth. Admission requires a Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or an academic background judged equivalent to the DES, and no portfolio is required. Students complete the general education courses required of all Arts, Literature and Communication students alongside their profile courses. Graduates receive a DEC and are prepared for university studies in cinema, communications, media, or journalism. The program is delivered at Dawson College's downtown Montreal campus.
