Students work with a mix of industry-standard and open-source geographic information system tools, applying them to real datasets to produce maps, spatial models, and data visualizations. Coursework spans two semesters and includes spatial statistics, predictive modelling, Python-based geospatial scripting, web mapping and development, spatial data management, and project management for geospatial analytics. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants require either a college diploma or degree with proof of English language proficiency, or a minimum of three years of work experience in a related field, documented through a resumé and letter of intent, along with proof of English language proficiency. Prior GIS experience and introductory programming knowledge in Python or JavaScript are recommended, as is technical writing experience. Applicants who were internationally educated in a non-English-speaking country must meet Durham College's English Language Proficiency Policy.
