Registered Nurse Critical Care Nursing - E-Learning (graduate certificate) is a postgraduate certificate in Nursing programme taught at Durham College in Oshawa, Canada. The programme runs for 2 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 1,578 per year for local students.
The program's final component is an integrated practicum of 120 hours, split into ten twelve-hour shifts, providing clinical practice in an adult critical care setting. This intensive experience lets registered nurses apply their learning and build confidence in real-world critical care work, demonstrating competency against Ontario's Standards of Practice for Critical Care Nursing under the guidance of an experienced critical care nurse and with support from a Durham College Field Placement Advisor. Throughout the practicum, students develop professional autonomy while applying the evidence-informed care principles common to nursing programs across Ontario.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, free of practice restrictions, must be evidenced. Acute care experience is strongly recommended, since the advanced theory here builds on foundational nursing knowledge already held. Applications go through ontariocolleges.ca; skip the prompts asking for high-school transcripts, as none are sent to OCAS or to Durham. A student number is issued once Durham receives the application, roughly 48 hours later, after which applicants email [email protected] with their name, Durham student number, CNO registration number, and a screenshot or PDF of their CNO Find a Nurse entry showing name, registration number and status. Offers are then accepted electronically through Ontario Colleges.
