Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Nurse Practitioner: Adult Care is a 21-credit program offered by the Ingram School of Nursing in McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. It is designed for nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing and is taken concurrently with the Graduate Diploma in Nurse Practitioner: Adult Care. The program prepares students to assume the full scope of Adult Care Nurse Practitioner practice, including advanced-practice nursing care for adults with complex acute, chronic, or critical health issues that require secondary or tertiary-level care. Coursework is grounded in a Strengths-Based Nursing approach to the care of individuals, families, and communities. Admission requires a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing comparable to McGill's, a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in prior nursing studies, and 3,360 hours of nursing experience in the adult acute-care specialty. Graduates are prepared to pursue advanced-practice nurse practitioner roles in adult care settings across Quebec's health system.
