Overview

This is a highly specialized, advanced program in the theory and practice of all phases of producing creative sound for film, television, gaming, web animations, live audio, video and all new media forms.  Concept building is emphasized through various means: audio production and surround sound design and mixing, field recording, ADR, Foley, live sound and game sound techniques. Students are engaged in individual and collaborative projects involving practical and process oriented instruction, working with other graduate certificate programs and departments within the College, as well as independent lab time.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry requires a Music Industry Arts Ontario College Diploma from Fanshawe College, an equivalent qualification from another institution, or professional background and experience judged equivalent by the College. English language proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 5 overall with no section below 4.5, PTE Academic 58, Duolingo English Test 120 with no section below 105, or CAEL 70 overall with no section below 60. Selection ranks by receipt of application by 1 February, then achievement in the requirements: Fanshawe's own Music Industry Arts graduates need a 'B' average across first- and second-year Audio Workstation, Engineering and Post-Production courses (or the equivalent elsewhere), with anything lower considered only on the Academic Manager's recommendation; MIA graduates are given preference, most recent graduates first, and non-MIA applicants are evaluated on musical and technical ability in sound design, surround mixing, composing/recording/mixing, and video editing.
