Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, a 126-credit-hour degree at First Nations University of Canada, alongside a related 66-credit-hour Diploma in Indigenous Social Work. Both credentials are nationally accredited through the Canadian Association for Social Work Education. The curriculum is grounded in Indigenous spirituality, philosophies, and knowledge systems, building competencies for working with Indigenous individuals, families, groups, and communities in ways that support self-determination, with required courses spanning English and Indigenous studies foundations alongside a sequence of social work practice courses. The program takes two to four years to complete, with intakes beginning in January or September, and is offered at the Regina campus, Saskatoon campus, and Northern Campus. It suits students seeking a culturally grounded social work education, preparing graduates for roles such as addictions counsellor, mental health therapist, child protection worker, case worker, or medical social worker.
