The Honours Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) (S305) at George Brown College is the first Ontario college degree-completion program designed specifically for graduates of accredited, publicly funded college dental hygiene diploma programs (minimum GPA 3.0). Delivered fully online over one year (three semesters) with both live and self-paced learning - synchronous classes roughly two to two-and-a-half days per week - it develops advanced competencies in oral health advocacy, health promotion, oral-health-related policy and critical decision-making, broadening career options beyond traditional clinical practice. Intakes are in January and May.

Admission Requirements: A degree-completion program for qualified dental hygienists, open to domestic applicants only in the 2026-27 cycle, and every applicant must hold current licensure to practise dental hygiene in Canada, which the college verifies. Four entry routes are published, and each one asks for a GPA of at least 3.0. Route one: the three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma in dental hygiene, taken at a publicly funded accredited program. Route two: the two-year Ontario College Diploma in the same subject and setting, backed by a minimum of eight years of clinical dental hygiene work evidenced by a resume, plus a post-secondary Research Methods course finished before classes begin; seats here are limited. Route three: a one-year dental assisting credential followed by the one-year Ontario College Diploma in dental hygiene at a publicly funded accredited program, again with eight years or more of consistent clinical or related dental hygiene practice, a completed degree-level course in health, education or science (transcript and course outline required) and the Research Methods course; limited seats. Route four: a dental hygiene diploma awarded by an accredited Ontario private college - the program must have been accredited at the time you graduated - carrying the same eight-year practice record, degree-level course and Research Methods conditions, again with limited seats. Out-of-province graduates are assessed case by case against these criteria. George Brown suggests applicants on the two-year or 1+1 routes enrol in Research Methods once they hold a conditional offer. Entry is competitive and applicants typically need grades above the stated minimum.
