The Industrial Power Sewing program is a 16-week, part-time certificate from George Brown College that prepares students to work in an industrial sewing environment. Students learn to operate industrial sewing machines and specialty sewing and pressing equipment, complete standard operations for garment details in woven fabrics, and construct garments of increasing complexity, working toward industrial production standards. Classes are held at George Brown's Fashion Exchange hub at 63 Regent Park Blvd., a production facility used by local designers and fashion producers. In-class instruction is followed by a 100-hour work-integrated field placement with an industry partner, giving students direct experience in production sewing. The program begins in January and leads to a George Brown College Certificate, preparing graduates for entry into Canada's production sewing sector.
