Manufacturing Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) is a one-year, full-time certificate delivered at RRC Polytech's Notre Dame Campus with a September intake. The program teaches students to produce computer-aided mechanical drawings of components and assemblies for industrial machines, machinery parts, and other mechanical equipment, using AutoCAD, Solid Edge, and Inventor software. Coursework covers engineering drawings, design for manufacturing, basic manufacturing processes, quality control inspection, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, metallurgy, and heat treatment, building toward independent project design work by the end of the program. Before starting, applicants attend a program overview session and complete a math and reading skills diagnostic to assess program readiness. Graduates are prepared for entry-level drafting roles producing technical and mechanical drawings in manufacturing and industrial settings.
