Overview
Students are introduced to skills and knowledge needed to succeed in recreation and leisure services. The curriculum includes community recreation, outdoor adventure, arts, culture, heritage, leisure, fitness, retirement activities, life enrichment in long term care, adaptive-therapeutic recreation, facility operations, programming, and event planning. Business administration fundamentals are incorporated with courses in marketing, accounting, technology, human resources, entrepreneurship and research. Experiential learning opportunities include participation in a number of events or programs working with children to seniors. Students gain proficiency in leadership and group facilitation by designing, delivering and evaluating diverse, inclusive, relevant, environmentally sustainable recreation leisure and wellness initiatives.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Georgian requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent for direct entry to this Diploma, or mature-student status for applicants without one. The programme's own prerequisite is Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U). Mature applicants aged 19 or older, non-secondary-school applicants, and home-schooled applicants can also be considered through equivalent courses, upgrading, GED completion, or equivalency testing, and applicants with prior post-secondary coursework or relevant life or learning experience may qualify through Georgian's Credit for Prior Learning process. Ahead of placement, students must hold a clear criminal reference and vulnerable-sector check obtained no more than three months beforehand; a criminal charge or conviction without a pardon can prevent completion of placement and graduation. The programme page states no programme-specific language-test score; Georgian's institution-wide English Language Proficiency Requirement for diploma and certificate programmes applies instead — a minimum overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, or Duolingo English Test 110, from Georgian's international admissions page.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: 1 February 2027 is the equal-consideration date for Georgian's highly competitive programs, which now covers Fall 2027, Winter 2028 and Summer 2028 entry, and later applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats last; offers of admission for this 2026-2027 cycle must be accepted by 1 May 2027. Programs outside the highly competitive list carry no equal-consideration date and are assessed on a rolling basis year-round. International applicants apply directly through Georgian's own portal with no published closing date and are assessed on a rolling basis while seats remain, though Georgian warns a program open when applied to may close before assessment. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
